Trolley on Canal Street

We took a trip down to New Orleans and got to ride in the streetcars! After walking through town down bourbon street, stopping for oysters on the half shell and gator bites in the heart of NOLA, we came to Canal street. This major road has a different feel than the French quarter–it feels California-like with the modern structures and palms lining the street. The streetcars also add to the Cali feel. Anyway, we passed by this candy-red streetcar on the way to the green line and I took some reference photos for painting later. After coming back from downtown I was inspired to paint this fun streetcar scene.
